Another fabulous tutor coming to Threads and Tangles Saturday and Sunday 29th & 30th April 2017.

Who can resist the vibrancy of colour, which is the hallmark of textile art. In this class Michelle will teach us her technique for creating a small textile art work which will include working with hand dyed silk caps and hand painted silks, free motion machine embroidery, layering and creating a 3D dimensional affect. Participants will be drawing, painting, layering, free motion machine embroidery, embellishing and experimenting with water soluble fabric.

A bit about Michelle.  Michelle describes herself as a textile artist who uses the sewing machine, colour and texture to tell a story using free motion machine embroidery techniques to fill the soul with colour. She considers that it is the everyday that holds the beauty and inspiration, watching the seasons change, listening and laughing with friends and family and the roar of the ocean. She likes to convey colour and movement to how she  respond emotionally. Her textile artwork is not accurate or a literal depiction but rather she sees darting dragonflies, spring gardens, butterfly kisses, and the sound of the ocean as she moves around what she is making.

When she is creating she loves to use hand dyed fibres and silks, found objects and collected treasures. She layers, tears, folds, stitches and paints to allow her sewing machine to dance across the surface and pull all the elements together.

As a teacher her goal is to inspire her students and create passion when using colour and texture while introducing her students to new materials and techniques.  http://chelletextiles.com.au/
